“Kya Drama Hai” Criticized for Targeting Talha Chahour’s Accent | Six Screens

Recently, “Kya Drama Hai” is under fire for criticizing Talha Chahour’s Punjabi accent. The remarks triggered a widespread reaction on social media. 

What Happened on the Show

During a review segment, a judge said Talha’s Urdu sounded “too Punjabi” when he spoke in anger. She claimed it felt out of place for the Urdu-speaking characters of the show . Another judge reportedly called the accent “jarring,” saying it didn’t match the rest of the cast’s dialogue style. 

Although another judge tried to soften the blow by praising Talha’s performance, the overall tone still cast a negative shadow over his speech pattern. 

Why Viewers Are Upset

Many fans considered the criticism insulting and unfair. They called it discrimination, saying judging someone’s accent is like judging their roots. Some even used the term “paindu” — a derogatory word — to show how wrongly accent comments can hurt. 

Others warned this kind of behaviour creates barriers for actors outside the typical circles in Karachi. Because Talha hails from Punjab, fans feel he deserved respect — not mockery.
