Biography
Hamza Ali Abbasi shines as a multi‑talented Pakistani actor, director, and former civil servant. He earned degrees in International Relations at Quaid‑e‑Azam University and in the USA before passing the competitive CSS exam and joining Pakistan’s civil service as a police officer. Soon he got away from the bureaucracy and started acting.
Hamza began with theater, acting in productions such as Bombay Dreams, and Phantom of the Operator, and then made his break into television in 2013 with the title role in Pyarey Afzal earning not just Best Actor at the Lux Style Awards but also fame and adoration. His favorite dramas include Mann Mayal in 2016 and Alif in 2019 in which he portrayed multifaceted richly drawn characters.
Hamza has been in hit films such as Waar, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, and he famously appeared as Noori Natt in the film The Legend of Maula Jatt who was the biggest box-office hit in Pakistan and is still the highest grossing film currently.
In recent years, Hamza spent less time in the mainstream acting world becoming an advocate for religious studies and social commentary, moving on to writing, and began raising a family. In August 2024, he will publish a book titled, My Discovery of Islam, God & Judgement Day that will discuss his spiritual journey up until now.
He married Naimal Khawar, in August 2019. They welcomed their son, Mustafa, into the world in 2020.
