Biography
Ahad Raza Mir is a Canadian‑Pakistani actor, theatre artist, and producer celebrated for his versatility across television, film, and stage. Born in Karachi into a prominent filmmaking family—his father Asif Raza Mir, a renowned actor-producer, and grandfather Raza Mir, one of Pakistan’s film pioneers—Ahad was immersed in storytelling from childhood. Ahad grew up in Canada and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting). He performed Hamlet with The Shakespeare Company and Vertigo Theatre, which was recognized by winning a Betty Mitchell Award for outstanding performance by an actor in a drama. He is also the first Pakistani actor in Canada to perform the role of Hamlet professionally. Ahad is a Canadian citizen with a UK residence visa, and he recently received the UAE Golden Visa. Ahad went back to Pakistan around 2015 and achieved national recognition from his role as Dr Asfandyar in Yaqeen Ka Safar (2017) which won him a Lux Style Award and numerous Hum Awards. He followed up with popular shows such as Sammi, Aangan, Ehd-e-Wafa, Yeh Dil Mera, and the specially produced Ramadan show Hum Tum alongside Revzin Ramsha Khan where he was awarded Best Onscreen Couple. Ahad’s feature film debut came with the airborne drama Parwaaz Hai Junoon (2018). He shared the screen with his father Asif for what was a rare father and son collaboration. Ahad made international strides with roles in Netflix’s Resident Evil and the BBC’s World on Fire (Season 2). Ahad remains a passionate advocate for theatrical arts in Pakistan and has expressed a desire to return to directing stage productions in Canada and locally when time allows. He was married to actor Sajal Aly.
