Tapish Episode 9 Review: Shifa Exposes Shazir’s Manipulation as Aalyan Faces Arrest

In "Tapish Episode 9," the degree of emotional and psychological tension continues to elevate. What began as emotional manipulation has turned into a more severe predicament, with Shazir's involvement in Shifa and Maaz's marriage growing deeper and deeper. Meanwhile, Aalyan faces a heartbreaking crisis that could ruin his whole life. This episode has provided viewers with intense emotional scenes, a high level of suspense, and many difficult questions regarding trust, boundaries, and emotional desperation.

What Happened in Tapish Episode 9?

In Episode 9, the show starts off with a “medical crisis” when Umair’s health suddenly declines and throws the entire family into turmoil. To support Umair’s immediate needs, Shifa and Maaz rush to the house with both medicine and their moral support. The emotional weight of the entire episode is established immediately.

Once again, through watching Umair’s suffering from a heart defect (because Aalyan has financial issues), Aalyan begins to feel overwhelming pressure as the situation appears hopeless. One of the best sequences in this episode is Aalyan’s emotional breakdown at Umar’s bedside, when he swears to do whatever it takes to find money for Umair’s surgery.This emotional development will ultimately lead to the episode’s largest plot twist.

Shazir’s Obsession Is Becoming Dangerous

Although Aalyan battles a severe personal crisis, Shazir carries on with his obsessive focus on Shifa. His father and sister both take the time to address him about the harms he is doing and warn him about how pursuing a married woman could potentially create irreparable harm to their family's name. Shazir disregards everything they say and refers to his obsession as his "treatment" and has no plans to change.

This scene shows what most viewers are already starting to suspect. Shazir is no longer acting in love; rather, he is acting with an obsession towards Shifa.

To exacerbate the problems, Sameer is lying to Shazir's family about Shifa, stating then she may want to pursue Shazir because she is unhappy with Maaz's financial situation. This type of misinformation could create larger issues in following episodes.

The Bakery Scene: Kindness or Manipulation?

The encounter inside the bakery in Episode 9 is a well-known scene from the show.

Maaz is looking to purchase a cake and other treats for Shifa in order to lift her spirits after all that has occurred around them, but when he arrives, he is met by Shazir, who takes advantage of Maaz's financial situation and pays for the expensive cake, as well as cookies and gajras for Shifa.

Although you may see this as a generous act on Shazir's part, the audience quickly understands that this is another attempt to get closer to the people he is trying to associate himself with.

In addition, this scene demonstrates some really clever writing by Shazir because he masks his manipulation with acts of kindness, making it much more difficult for Maaz to realise the sadistic nature of Shazir's motives.

Shifa's momentary joy upon receiving gifts from Maaz fades quickly once she discovers that schemes of Shazir's kind have bought the gifts. Her immediate, aggressive reaction to Maaz indicates to him that Shazir's gifts are not a friendly gesture; rather, they invade her privacy.

As she does not fit into the profile of many female characters in melodrama who do not vocally confront abusive actions against them, Shifa has become a highlighted point of interest for many people because of her ability to recognize the emotional abuse being perpetrated against her.

As a result, viewers commended Shifa's public confrontation of male emotional abuse through the normalisation of Shazir's behaviour. The result was that many fans described this as the most accurate portrayal of a female responding to male emotional abuse in a scripted drama to date.

Aalyan’s Secret Theft Changes Everything

The greatest twist of this episode is revealed in the last act of this episode.

Aalyan tells his wife that he got Umair's operation approved through a loan from the office.

The reality is very different.

The police show up at Aalyan's office investigating a massive Rs. 35 lakh theft.

The ninth tapish episode balanced out emotional family struggles with psychological stress brilliantly. Shifa was very strong; shazir went over numerous limits; aalyan hit his breaking point. The episode progressed every storyline and kept viewers emotionally involved. Tapish is very obviously creating a build up for a larger intensity of drama as their three storylines of obsession, betrayal, and desperation converge.
